SURFACE DESIGN STUDY: RESEARCH & DESIGN


For this assignment, I went on a scavenger hunt. For my search, I concentrated on patterns and geometric shapes.

























My original idea was more toward organic forms, which I considered since I was inspired by Mexico. Since I wanted to incorporate some of that feeling and colours into my pattern design, I researched some exciting ideas and vibrant colours.










I focus on geometric shapes, especially squares I arranged into each other, obtaining attractive design composition.


I kept working on my idea until I was happy with the pattern, the beginning to hatch, which was time-consuming, but I was having fun.

  MILESTONE PROJECT 1: STACKED SLICES MODEL During my thinking process, I wanted to create a pond with fish, but after several tries, I decided to make a stacked bunny. I like the idea because it is the Chinese year of the rabbit. I have a difficult time saving my rhino file and grasshopper. REPLICATED/REMEDIATED: MOLD POSITIVES & MATCH PLATE. preparing the 3d print (fish vase) to add the plaster mixing water with gypsum powder  ADDING THE MIX TO THE 3D PRINT OBJECTS  ALMOST DRY PREPARING THE OTHER HALF OF THE MOLD ;) WE HAVE FUN PREPARING THE 3D OBJECT, AND LATER PREPARING THE MOLD, THE TAIL OF THE FISH GOT STUCK ON THE MOLD BUT, AND THE END WORKS GOOD.

ALGORITHMIC SURFACE MODELLING + ANIMATION I had fun during the process; first, I explored some surface modelling, which I began in rhino, then worked on Grasshopper.  After the exploration, I decided to make a star pattern in Grasshopper.   First,  with a triangle and find the area. Draw a line between the star point and the center. Love the pattern... Process I struggle to just show the mesh and animated still a work in progress.  Still trying to figure out the mesh animation, as it does not look as I wanted...
